seydelei
When people asked me why I became
a photographer
it was a way for me to find a language
beyond
words in emotional situations
It wasn’t until much later
that I learned the story of my ancestors
—Seidel and Lorenz—
who
were driven from their homeland as Sudeten Germans in 1945
among them were photographers
and
since then I have felt even more connected to and strengthened
by my profession
It’s a feeling like magic
In this context, I heard the term
“Seidelei”
for the first time—a name that carries deep family significance—
and it felt right to me
so
I wanted to revive this name.
